5 YEARS OF IMPACT
Over the past five years, BARD has invested in a series of actions to enhance productivity and value, to
strengthen reporting and monitoring processes, enhance outreach and collaborations, and above all,
create new funding opportunities to address climate change and promote climate-smart agriculture. We
are proud to share these accomplishments with you.
Improving BARD’s Deliverables and Value:
BARD recently refined and updated its research priorities for the next five years. The assessment process was
conducted by an expanded bilateral committee, and the revised priorities were approved by the Board of
Directors and communicated to the scientific community. In addition to scientific merit, BARD emphasizes
scientific outcomes that can translate into practical solutions to agricultural challenges and deliver scalable
agricultural knowledge or practices, with special attention to offsetting negative environmental impact. To
enhance practical R&D outcomes and scientific deliverables, BARD is improving the monitoring process
of research project impacts and outcomes – among others through an online questionnaire for Principal
Investigators at two time points after the award period. Also of note in this context is the Va’adia-BARD
postdoctoral fellowship, which was publicly commended for its high and impactful achievements at the
Israel Agricultural Sciences Conference (in 2021). In keeping with the Board of Directors’ recommendation,
the fellowship funding level was raised in order to maintain BARD’s competitive edge and help offset the
rising cost of living in both countries.
