B-LEVER ACADEMIA-TO-INDUSTRY
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The B-Lever program, launched in 2019, was designed to facilitate the
connection between U.S. and Israeli research projects and commercial entities
in order to accelerate effective development and commercialization of
academic know-how.
BARD’s aim when designing this program with the late Dr. Israel Shamay of the
IIA was to reduce the 15-year time to market needed for research outputs to go-
to-market and reach application.
An internal survey of BARD-funded PIs found that: 70% of BARD-funded
researchers would be interested in collaborating with private companies to
further promote the development of a product or service.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Since its inauguration, the program has assisted Israeli scientists in obtaining
$6M in IIA grants.
Through this ongoing pilot program, BARD facilitates the successful
applications of scientists seeking high-power grants in order to commercialize
scientific research outcomes.
BARD’s professional consultant has guided applying scientists through the
process of translating academic knowledge and research into practical and
commercially valuable products or services.
