Roy Posmanik holds a degree in biology from Tel Aviv University, MSc, and PhD in desert studies from Ben Gurion University of the Negev, Israel. Following graduation, the BARD-Vaadia Postdoctoral Fellowship program granted Dr. Posmanik support for a 2-year postdoctoral fellowship at Cornell Energy Institute working with Prof. Jeff Tester (Chemical and Bimolecular Engineering) and Prof. Lars Angenent (Biological and Environmental Engineering). During his fellowship, Dr. Posmanik gained a great experience in sustainable energy and agricultural systems, including hydrothermal biomass processing and anaerobic digestion.  He is currently a research scientist at the Agricultural Research Organization (ARO) works in the field of environmental biotechnology with the interest in sustainable resource recovery from agricultural and food processing waste. Using a circular economy approach, his lab studies the recovery renewable energy, bio-based chemicals and agricultural nutrients from food production streams, while minimizing their carbon footprints.
